America's Media CCTV Talks About EU Tariffs
European solar firms call for EU to immediately scrap their minimum price rules.
Lightsource, along with more than 400 other European solar energy firms, has called for the European Union to immediately scrap their minimum pricing trade measures against China.
The EU’s minimum price rules were introduced four years ago to combat alleged overproduction and dumping from Chinese manufacturers and create a ‘level playing field’, but those calling for the rules to be overturned say that the restrictions are harming the industry.
Lightsource CEO Nick Boyle says European tariffs act as a drag on the development of clean energy. Here at Lightsource, we’re always on the lookout for new ways of pushing out solar panel, and trade barriers act as a damper on innovation and business.
Raising the price of China-made panels undeniably slows the growth of the hugely important solar industry in Europe, so until the issue is resolved the pressure on the EU from both producers and installers seems set to remain.
