Lightsource bp supports the Uluru Statement from the Heart and backs the Voice
Lightsource bp supports the Uluru Statement from the Heart. The Uluru Statement from the Heart is an important invitation extended by First Nations Australians to all Australians, urging them to work collaboratively towards a brighter future. This visionary statement calls for the establishment of a First Nations Voice to Parliament enshrined in the Constitution and the creation of a Makarrata Commission for agreement making and truth-telling.
At Lightsource bp, we wholeheartedly endorse this invitation and support the Indigenous Voice to Parliament. We acknowledge Australia’s First Nations people as the Traditional Custodians of the land and their continuing connection to country, sea, and water. We pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.
As a company committed to diversity and inclusivity, supporting the Uluru Statement from the Heart aligns with our core values. We are dedicated to actively participating in building a more equitable and just Australia, where the voices and rights of First Nations Australians are recognised, celebrated, and empowered.
At Lightsource bp, we’re committed to having a positive impact on our local communities – and particularly for First Nations communities – and we’re always looking for opportunities to make a difference to the people living around our solar projects, which is why we have partnered with the Clontarf Foundation since 2020. The Clontarf Foundation exists to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem, and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and by doing so equips them to participate more meaningfully in society.
