Lightsource bp is working on a proposal for a solar and energy storage project at Knockanure, County Kerry. The proposal involves Lightsource bp developing a solar and energy storage project that will connect into the national grid onsite, and will have an output power capacity of 193MWac (Megawatts ac) and a storage capacity of 149MW.
This site has been carefully selected, and a wide range of environmental assessments are being undertaken to inform Lightsource bp’s plans. These assessments cover a variety of areas, including but not limited to landscape and visual, heritage and archaeology, ecology, flooding and more.
A key part of developing plans for the solar and storage installation is engaging with local communities, so we’re holding an information event on 17th October at Knockanure Community Centre, 2pm-7pm, to display our plans and gather feedback. We’ve sent out an information leaflet to the local community, as well as advertising in the local newspaper, inviting interested parties to join us at the event. Members of the Lightsource bp team will be on hand to answer any questions about the proposal.
Our Proposal
Our plans are being finalised following feedback from the community information event and the results of our environmental and planning assessments. These are our current thoughts.
