Approved solar farm at Webbery Barton and Cleave Farms, Gammaton, EX39 4QQ
The approved proposal involves Lightsource bp funding the development of a solar installation that will have an output power capacity of 32MW (Megawatts), which will help the UK to reach its 2035 target of 100% renewable energy for its electricity needs.
Our approach to development for this site was informed by our initial assessments, including a wide range of environmental assessments to help shape our plans. These included landscape and visual, heritage and archaeology, ecology and more. We also engaged with local residents and stakeholders to ensure our projects were suitably developed for the local community.
Safety is one of our core values, and in order to keep to the standards of community engagement that we set as a company during the pandemic, we replaced our physical community consultations with a virtual event, which took place on Thursday 29th October 2020, in the form of a video presentation and live Q&A session. Before the event, we sent a press release to the local paper, and an information leaflet was posted to nearby residents. Lightsource bp sold this project in 2022.
