Lightsource bp hosts roadshow for European Sustainable Energy Week
Lightsource bp hosts a series of European Commission energy day events with two taking place in Spain and Greece this week as part of European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW).
EUSEW, which runs from 26th to 30th September, is dedicated to renewable energy and energy efficiency in Europe, organised by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) in close collaboration with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER).
Emphasising Lightsource bp European expansion and its care for the people and the environment, each event explains a development stage of a solar farm. Led by our teams in Greece and Spain, and with the support of the local team, Lightsource bp is engaging with local stakeholders to showcase its bespoke approach to dual land-use, environmental planning and site safety. The company will also lay out its ambitions for the future with its 25GW by 2025 objective, its wider impact on the global energy transition, as well as its support to the REPowerEU programme.
Greece will host the first event on 4th October and focus on the construction phase in the Kozani region, followed by Spain on 7th October showcasing the operational stage with the Vendimia site. These events will gather, among others, European Commission representatives, local authorities, solar trade associations as well as some selected students as part of their university curriculum.
Kareen Boutonnat, CEO, Europe and Asia Pacific at Lightsource bp said: “On our road to the 25GW by 2025 target, these Lightsource bp events are an opportunity to bring our stakeholders together, to form and nurture long-lasting connections and celebrate the multiple benefits that solar can bring to the European economy as well as the evolving energy system.”
