Lightsource bp publishes 2023 Sustainability Report  

Lightsource bp, a global leader in solar development, is pleased to publish its 2023 Sustainability Report.

Highlighting Lightsource bp’s ongoing commitments to a clean and sustainable future, the report details key progress in the delivery of the sustainability strategy for 2023. It offers a comprehensive overview of achievements and provides a platform from which Lightsource bp will help meet the rising demand for affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy.

Highlights

  • Lightsource bp’s pipeline of projects grew substantially to beyond 60GW and we reached total developed assets of 8.8GW which generated over 3.7TWh of renewable energy in 2023 – avoiding estimated emissions of over 2,300,000 tCO2e associated with global energy generation.
  • The company’s assets under construction nearly doubled to 30 projects, representing a capacity of 3.77GW.
  • Lightsource bp started construction on its first utility-scale battery storage project, and further developed a mature pipeline of 1.3GW of energy storage projects.
  • Pivotal work undertaken on supply chain sustainability, with efforts focused on collaborating closely with suppliers to enhance due diligence and ESG maturity.
  • An update on Lightsource bp’s greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction efforts and how these align with the company’s growth ambitions, presenting intensity-based metrics for the first time.
  • Significant progress was made in developing the quantification of Lightsource bp’s waste footprint, allowing insights to be drawn that will inform action to improve the company’s impact.
  • The results of our first company-wide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion survey, identifying areas where we excel and our top opportunities for action.
