60MWdc in Castlejordan, County Meath

Harristown solar farm is 60MWdc project in Castlejordan, County Meath. The 220-acre site received planning approval in November 2019.

The Harristown solar project required a 110kv substation to connect the project to the local grid, the planning process for this installation was completed in February 2020. The site is suitable for livestock grazing and sowing wildflowers to increase biodiversity. The site was designed with a rural timber and wire fence to integrate with the local environment.

When preparing this project, we hosted two separate information events for the local community, to gather their feedback and opinions as we finalised the design for the solar project and the 110kv substation. Community consultation is an important part of the development process as it provides an opportunity to engage with local communities, allowing us to provide additional information and residents an opportunity to offer any suggestions.
