Sustainability, it’s time to act now

Climate change, decarbonising energy, and biodiversity loss are among the complex and interwoven global issues that we face today. These issues have serious environmental consequences, directly impacting on both the natural world and people’s lives and livelihoods.

At Lightsource bp, we are taking action to respond to the urgent call to address these issues in the UK through our sustainability strategy. Our sustainability strategy at its core contributes to helping the UK transition to a lower carbon future through responsibly developed solar projects.

Environmental stewardship

As we help drive the green energy transition and fight the effects of climate change, we also plan to continue to be climate conscious, tracking our greenhouse gas emissions and waste, and figuring out how to reduce both. We also want to continue improving the ecosystems and boosting biodiversity in the communities that we work with in the UK.

Energy

We want to inspire and enable millions of communities and businesses in the UK, and across the globe, to choose solar. Solar is a passive form of technology, providing local and sustainable electricity that’s affordable, and we want to make it the natural choice in driving the low carbon transition.

Social responsibility

Diversity, equity and inclusion are an important part of our culture here at Lightsource bp. We believe that our inclusivity sets us apart from our competitors and gives us a unique, diverse perspective, but we’re not stopping there. We have to continue to push the boundaries of our thinking, and keep the vibrancy and openness of our culture alive in order to continue working towards our climate positive mission.
