After growing up on a\u00a0farm in rural South Dakota for most of my childhood,\u00a0where\u00a0the closest \u201ctown\u201d had\u00a0a population of 21 people, I have a deep appreciation for rural communities and farm life, as well as\u00a0a passion for nature and preserving\u00a0farmland.\u00a0\u00a0I\u2019ve been\u00a0fortunate to be\u00a0able to work closely with rural communities\u00a0and landowners\u00a0throughout my career\u00a0and\u00a0see firsthand\u00a0how solar pays off.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With a career in Asset Management, on any given day you are speaking with\u00a0local\u00a0farmers,\u00a0school districts\u00a0and\u00a0on-site operations\u00a0providers,\u00a0as well as\u00a0international business partners.\u00a0I’ve found that my\u00a0rural upbringing has\u00a0not only\u00a0allowed me to\u00a0connect with\u00a0varying stakeholders and\u00a0their\u00a0unique\u00a0needs but\u00a0has been a perfect fit for my skills and passion.\u00a0It\u2019s also been incredible to see how\u00a0the reliable revenue stream from successful renewables leases makes a huge difference for landowners, especially by acting as a hedge against volatile commodity prices and unpredictable production.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to joining\u00a0Lightsource\u00a0bp, I\u00a0<\/span>held various leadership roles within the renewable energy at\u00a0Longroad\u00a0Energy, Macquarie and\u00a0bp\u2019s wind division, working\u00a0in market operations, trading, regulatory compliance, and asset management.\u00a0I believe that success in renewables comes from the energy of the people behind the assets, and\u00a0I was immediately drawn to the people and leadership within Lightsource bp\u2019s global asset services team. I knew I would never forgive myself if I didn\u2019t seize the opportunity to be a part\u00a0of this team that is truly making history in the transition to a sustainable energy future worldwide.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve also found that Lightsource bp\u2019s values\u00a0and culture, including an emphasis on diversity and bringing passion to work\u00a0align well with my own. As I worked previously for bp, Lightsource bp\u2019s 50\/50 JV partner, I expected that would be the\u00a0case.\u00a0\u00a0Perhaps most relevant to my role is the company\u2019s drive for safe and excellent operations.\u00a0We are all in this together\u2014\u00a0investors,\u00a0landowners, operators,\u00a0communities\u00a0\u2014and together we are accountable for the success and livelihoods of so many people.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
