During the course of its 70+ year history, the hospital has maintained emergency and general care operations, even in the face of chronic financial challenges. It is the last remaining hospital in Jones County.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo and a half years ago, our future did not look as bright\u2026We were struggling just to make payroll, and we could do nothing else,\u201d Matthews said during the March 18th check presentation ceremony. \u201cNow we have a future\u2026We are growing services and providing care for our community. It\u2019s just an amazing story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The community investment will fund 11 new patient beds, as well as new computers. Anson General Hospital interim CEO Ted Matthews said that if they had to purchase beds through normal budget allocations, the replacement process would have taken more than five years.<\/p>\n<p>This contribution will also help the hospital invest in new technology to enhance patient care through telehealth. Many of Anson General Hospital\u2019s computers only operate on Windows 7, a system released in 2009, limiting the ability to offer telehealth services, including mental health evaluation and facility referrals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Lightsource bp has] been so generous and so willing to work with the area and the community, that I give them accolades for their outreach efforts,\u201d Jones County Judge Dale Spurgin said during the ceremony. \u201cThe team they have brought in here has been excellent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n        <\/span>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n  <div class=\"pt-0 County, Texas, creating approximately 500 jobs.\u00a0\u00a0On the same day as the check presentation, construction partner McCarthy Building Companies held job fairs in Anson and Abilene.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of individuals of all experience levels lined up at the job fairs or have applied online to work on construction.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy will offer its apprenticeship program during the Jones City energy center construction. The apprenticeship program pairs entry-level workers with experienced senior- and journey-level professionals to gain valuable on-the-job experience to jumpstart participants\u2019 careers, teaching valuable skills that could also be transitioned to other industries and trades.<\/p>\n<h2>Long-term commitment to Jones County\u2019s economy<\/h2>\n<p>The Jones City energy center is a privately funded project that will deliver low\u2013cost, domestically generated electricity.
